AirOShoot Super Final Weekend – Preliminary Notification of Procedure

Hello Athletes,

Please feel free to comment via info@airoshoot.eu .

We would like to thank you for taking part in the first year of AirOShoot, one which we plan to end with a fun and challenging Super Final over the weekend of 14th and 15th September 2019. As we approach the last qualifying event, we think that it is a good idea to start to let you know what will happen at the Super Final.

The Super Final will be in Herent, Belgium. A town only 20 minutes’ drive from Brussels Airport.

The top 24 ranked athletes from each of the AirOShoot ranking lists, following the last qualification shoot, which is the IRS Cup in Belgium, will be invited to the Super Final. There will be a deadline for you to accept your invite. If we have not heard from you by the deadline we will invite the next ranked athlete to the Super Final, until we have filled all 24 places for each competition.

At the Super Final there will be 8 separate competitions, they will be for:

Rifle – Women (ARW), Women Junior (ARWJ), Men (ARM), Men Junior (ARMJ)

Pistol – Women (APW), Women Junior (APWJ), Men (APM), Men Junior (APMJ)

The range will be available for practice on Friday 13th September from late afternoon.

The qualification match will be on Saturday 14th September.

The Super Final will be on Sunday 15th September.

Saturday – Qualification Day.

For each of the competitions, the 24 Athletes will be divided into 3 groups, Squad A, Squad B and Squad C, based on their qualification ranking. This ensures an even distribution of top rankers in each group.

Qualification for the Super Final

12 athletes will qualify for the Super Final. This will be decided as follows:

The top 3 from each of the groups qualify, this qualifies 9 Athletes. The other 3 places are determined by the 3 highest scores of Athletes who have not yet qualified, regardless of which group they shot in.

Sunday – Finals Day.

Bonus Final

We recognise that 12 athletes from each qualification competition will not qualify for the Super Final. To ensure you do not waste your Sunday we will run a Bonus Final. This will be in the morning.

The Bonus Final will consist of single shots scored decimally. After each shot the athlete with the lowest score is given a yellow card. If there is a tied lowest score, no yellow card is awarded. If the athlete with the lowest score already has a yellow card that athlete receives a red card and is eliminated from the final. The competition continues until only 1 athlete remains.

Super Final

The Super Final format will be the same as the ISSF final. There will be 2 series of 5 shots followed by single shots with the first athlete being eliminated after 12 shots. Athletes continue to be eliminated after every 2 shots. With 12 athletes starting, the total number of shots to determine the Gold and Silver medallists will be 32.
